The beneficial effects of laser light on tissue were first recognized almost forty years ago. Since then, there have been thousands of studies documenting the positive effects laser light has on different types of cells, tissue, and disorders. Recent advances in technology and manufacturing have made it possible to have this exciting modality available and affordable for clinicians.
As mentioned in our blog, The Companion Therapy Laser System is the new leader in advanced high power laser therapy. This results in greater depth of penetration and shorter treatment times than any other LED and Laser Therapy Devices.
Why does this matter?
Penetration of the laser into tissue depends on wavelength and power. In addition, the amount of time needed to deliver an effective treatment dose is drastically decreased with the increased mW of the laser used. For example, it would take a 500 mW laser, many Class III lasers, 1 hour and 40 minutes to deliver the same amount of Joules it would take the Companion Therapy Laser 5 minutes to deliver. Do understand, that the following information relates only to a Class IV therapeutic laser. Before embarking on a treatment protocol for your pet, do not accept exaggerated claims related to inferior and low powered machines.
What Does The Companion Therapy Laser Do?
In simple terms, the therapy laser radically increases circulation, with reduces pain and inflammation and also reduces pain by stimulating an endorphin release and radically excites the energy carrier in the cell (the ATP) to heal the cells in 1/3 to 1/2 the normal healing time. A laser only acts on abnormal cells and does nothing to normal cells so you cannot over treat a pet with a therapy laser.
Laser treatments are cumulative and one builds upon another. Generally, one treats a pet with a series of treatments for the best effect.
What Will Your Pet Feel While Having a Laser Treatment?
As the laser is administered, often pets will relax and enjoy, much like you would experiencing a good massage. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experienced will dissipate. Occasionally, angry cats will start to purr and dogs will fall asleep during their therapy session.
How Soon Could You See Results In Your Pet?
You may see relief in the first treatment or so as pain and inflammation are reduced. For example: better mobility for joint conditions, drying and healing of dermatological issues, faster healing for wounds and incisions, or your pet just seeming more relaxed and comfortable . For some conditions, a series of treatments may be necessary before you see results due to the severity or complexity of the condition. Each pet is different, and treatments are unique for your pet’s specific needs. What Conditions Can Be Treated With The Companion Therapy Laser?
If your pet is feeling pain, has inflammation, or a wound, the laser is a sterile, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment. The laser is used to treat a variety of injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, numerous dermatological problems, and pain. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, the laser has been shown to provide relief and speed healing.
